The Canadian football is not out of this list, they also have very interesting names such as Hamilton Tiger-Cats, BC Lions, Baltimore Stallions, Memphis Mad Dogs.
Even Australian football teams has very amusing names as Roy the Lion, Half Cat, Rick “The Rock” Eagle, Woofer “Dogg” Whitten, Hudson “Hawka” Knights, Claude “Curls” Crow.
All these animal names definitely have significances. Probably the reason is the club promotions with team names with animal identity and secondly these animals belong to their regions. Sometimes, while reading news about this sport I think that animal kingdom has started an animal premier league. Not a bad idea! Only a few animals left whose names are discarded by the team organizers for being coward or not thrilling and fierce.
A few of these mascots are repeatedly used by the clubs, Eagle, phoenix and lion are among them.
